Do you have trouble understanding at times when people talk about eBay? Do not worry, some of the jargon is very dark, and can not be expected to understand until someone told him that means. Here is a short list of some of the most useful lingo to know, but need not memorize it - even the most common jargon is only used relatively infrequently.

Words.

Bid: telling eBay's system is the maximum price you are willing to pay for an item.
Dutch: an auction where more than one of each item is available.
Feedback: positive or negative comments left about other users on eBay.
Mint: in perfect condition.
Not paying bidder: a bidder wins the auction, but then go buy the article.
C of an electronic method Payment accepted by most sellers.
Rare: used and abused on eBay, now entirely meaningless.
Reserve: the minimum price the seller will accept for the article.
Shill bidding: a fake bid placed by a seller trying to drive up the price of your auction.
Snail Mail: the post, which obviously is very slow compared to email.
Pull: bidding at the last second to win the game before anyone else can outbid you.

Abbreviations.

AUD: Australian dollar. Currency.
BIN: Buy it now. A fixed price auction.
BNWT: Brand New with tags. One element that has never been used and still has its original tags.
BW: Black and White. It is used for movies, photos, etc.
CONUS: continental United States. Generally used by sellers who do not want to post things to Alaska or Hawaii.
EUR: Euro. Currency.
FC: First Class. Type of postage.
GBP: Great British Pounds. Currency.
HTF: difficult to find. It is not as abused as 'rare', but getting there.
NIB: New in Box. Never opened, still in its original box.
NR: No Reserve. An item in which the seller has not set a reserve price.
OB: Original Box. An element that has its original box (but might have been open).
PM: Priority Mail
PP: Parcel Post.
SH: shipping and handling. The fees that the buyer will pay for the postage.
USD: U.S. dollars. Currency.
VGC: Very good condition. Not mint, but close.

Most likely you will find more specific jargon related to what you are selling, but it would be an impossible task to cover everything here. If you can not include one of their knowledge of the subject, then type the term in a search engine, followed by the word ebay. "Chances are that someone, somewhere has seen fit to explain it.

While it's nice be able to understand the jargon of others, do not use it unless you really need (for example, if you run out of space in the title of an article). Many people on eBay are not experienced buyers and lose if you write a lot of jargon in all your auction.
